Judah 1 Executes Rapid Mass Evacuation of 1,300 Residents Ahead of Hurricane Melissa in the Bahamas

Southeast Bahamas – October 28, 2025 — As Hurricane Melissa intensified into a major storm and threatened the eastern Caribbean, Judah 1 Aviation launched a rapid-response evacuation mission that relocated more than 1,300 residents to safety in less than 24 hours.

With minimal advance notice, Judah 1 mobilized two MD-80 aircraft and coordinated multiple flights from the Southeast Bahamas, evacuating entire communities in the storm’s projected path. From initial contact to wheels up, the operation was planned and initiated in approximately 20 hours.

“This mission is a powerful example of what can happen when urgency meets capability,” said Everett Aaron, CEO of Judah 1. “Lives were at risk, and within hours we had aircraft in position and people on their way to safety. That’s why we exist.”

Working in partnership with the Bahamian government, SpaceX, Love & Light Foundation, and The River at Tampa Bay Church, Judah 1 coordinated both evacuation and relief logistics during the crisis. In addition to transporting residents out of harm’s way, Judah 1 conducted return flights to reunite evacuees with their communities once conditions stabilized, completing a full-cycle humanitarian response in just a matter of days.

Hurricane Melissa caused widespread devastation across parts of the Bahamas, destroying or severely damaging thousands of homes, crippling power infrastructure, and inundating low-lying island communities. Judah 1’s rapid deployment helped mitigate loss of life and provided a critical lifeline during the most dangerous phase of the storm.
