Monroe, Louisiana: Flood Disaster Relief
In March 2016, catastrophic flooding struck Monroe and West Monroe, Louisiana, leaving neighborhoods submerged and families suddenly displaced. Many homeowners had never seen floodwaters rise into their communities before, and in just a matter of hours, homes were filled with mud, debris, and water-damaged belongings. 
In response to this disaster, Judah 1 joined the larger volunteer effort to provide muck-out services for flood-damaged homes, helping residents begin the overwhelming process of recovery. This work included removing ruined drywall, flooring, insulation, soaked furniture, and personal belongings, as well as preparing homes for drying and rebuilding. These practical acts of service gave hope to families facing enormous loss.
Judah 1 was honored to also help feed relief workers, volunteers, and flood victims throughout the area. Through a special partnership with our dear friend Caris Clemetson, whose life and generosity left a lasting mark on everyone she served, hot meals were prepared and shared from her beloved Jamaican food trailer.
Caris brought comfort in a deeply personal way. As workers spent long hours tearing out damaged homes and families tried to process what had happened, the aroma of fresh hot meals became a reminder that they were not forgotten. Her kindness nourished both body and spirit, turning simple meals into moments of encouragement, fellowship, and ministry.
This mission was a powerful expression of what Judah 1 believes so deeply: when disaster strikes, the Body of Christ responds with compassion, practical help, and the hope of Jesus. Even in the mud and wreckage, God’s love was present through willing hands, shared meals, prayer, and the unity of ministry partners serving together.
