How We Prepare to Go
Chief Operating Officer
Mission begins with calling, but faithful mission also requires preparation.
Everett’s message, “Why We Go,” speaks to the heart of the matter. We go because Christ came to us. We serve because He served. We move toward need because the love of Christ moves outward. As COO, I think often about the next question: how do we prepare to go well?
At Judah 1, going is not just movement. It is stewardship. When people, ministries, children, families, supplies, aircraft, volunteers, and donors are involved, preparation matters. Good intentions are important, but good intentions alone are not enough. The mission deserves planning, coordination, discipline, and follow-through.
That preparation starts with listening. We do not want to assume we know every need from a distance. Strong ministry depends on trusted partners who understand the people and communities they serve every day. That is why partnership is so important to Judah 1.
Juárez is a clear example. The school ministry there is operated by Alvarado Ministries, in partnership with Judah 1. They know the children, the families, the community, and the practical needs on the ground. Judah 1’s role is to come alongside that faithful work with support, resources, volunteers, visibility, and prayer.
That kind of partnership turns compassion into action. It helps make sure supplies reach the right people. It helps donor support become practical impact. It allows volunteers to serve with purpose instead of simply arriving with good intentions. It honors the local ministry already doing the daily work.
Preparation also honors the trust of those who give. Every gift, connection, conversation, supply, and volunteer hour represents someone choosing to participate in the mission. We have a responsibility to steward that trust carefully. That means asking practical questions, building dependable systems, communicating clearly, and making sure enthusiasm is matched by execution.
This is not about making ministry complicated. It is about being faithful with what God places in our hands.
There will always be urgent needs. There will always be open doors. There will always be more opportunities than one organization can meet alone. But when the Body of Christ works together — pastors, donors, volunteers, aviation professionals, local ministries, and praying families — meaningful things can happen.
We go because the mission matters.
We prepare because the people we serve matter.
And at Judah 1, we want to do both with humility, gratitude, and faithfulness.
