Taylor Hargis — The Wife of a Hero

A few days have passed since Memorial Day, but one conversation keeps coming back to me.

We were flying Josh Hargis, his wife Taylor, their baby son, and Josh’s service dog to Georgia in our Cessna 421. Somewhere along the flight, Josh and the baby fell asleep, and Taylor and I spent hours talking as the daylight slowly faded outside the airplane windows.

What began as casual conversation turned into something much deeper.

As Taylor shared parts of their journey, I was reminded that military families often carry their own kind of sacrifice. Behind many wounded warriors, veterans, and active-duty service members is a husband, wife, parent, or child quietly carrying burdens that few people ever see. They endure the uncertainty, the fear, the long recoveries, and the emotional weight that service can place on an entire family.

Listening to Taylor, I realized again that courage is not always found on a battlefield. Sometimes it is found in loyalty, perseverance, and standing beside someone you love through the hardest moments of life.

Her strength and devotion left a lasting impression on me.

Memorial Day may be over on the calendar, but the gratitude should not end there.

So today, I simply want to say thank you — not only to those who served, but also to the families who stood beside them through every deployment, every hardship, and every difficult season that followed. You matter more than most people will ever know.
